George Rochelle is a dedicated cellist, ensemble coach, and music educator who is passionate about helping students grow into confident and expressive musicians. At Palos Verdes Music House, George works with students of all levels—from beginners learning their first notes to advancing cellists preparing for youth orchestras, chamber ensembles, and school performances.
George began playing cello at age eight in the renowned music program of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District. By high school he had earned a seat in the Grammy Award-winning orchestra at Mira Costa High School, where performing major symphonic repertoire helped inspire his career in music. As a member of this orchestra, he had the opportunity to perform at the historic Carnegie Hall in New York City.
George continued his musical training at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, where he earned both a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance and a Master of Music degree, studying with distinguished cellist Joon Sung Jun. While at the conservatory, he performed regularly with the Symphony Orchestra and chamber ensembles.
During his studies, George participated in the West Coast premiere of Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Fantasia Concertante for cello orchestra, collaborating with musicians from Brazil in a unique international performance project.
At Palos Verdes Music House, George also coaches the Seahorse Cello Ensemble, a student chamber group where young cellists learn the rewarding skills of ensemble playing—listening, blending sound, and performing together. Ensemble participation helps students build confidence, deepen musical understanding, and experience the joy of making music as a team.
Students and parents appreciate George’s supportive teaching style and his ability to balance strong technical instruction with encouragement and creativity. Whether a student is preparing for orchestra auditions, building a strong musical foundation, or exploring chamber music, George creates a positive environment where students feel motivated to grow.
