Drum Set & Percussion Instructor

Larry “Lorenzo” Mauro is an experienced drummer, recording artist, and passionate music educator who brings energy, professionalism, and real-world experience into every lesson. At Palos Verdes Music House, Larry teaches drum lessons for students of all levels from age 10 and older, helping beginners build strong fundamentals while guiding advancing drummers toward confidence and musical expression.

Larry has worked with Los Angeles recording artists and contributed to commercially released projects, including work with The Barber Project, produced by respected engineer Brian Garcia. He has worked with acclaimed producer Wyn Davis, known for his work with major artists such as No Doubt, Sublime, and Guns N’ Roses

As a performer, Larry is known for his rock-solid timing, musicality, and dedication to the craft—qualities that translate directly into his teaching. His lessons focus on essential drumming skills including timing, groove, coordination, technique, and playing in a band setting. Students not only learn how to play the drums, but how to become well-rounded musicians.

Larry believes that drumming should be both structured and fun, and that music can be a powerful creative outlet. He creates a positive, motivating environment where students feel encouraged to grow while enjoying the process of learning.

Parents appreciate Larry’s ability to connect with students and keep them engaged, while helping them make steady progress. Whether a student is exploring drums for the first time, playing in a school band, or developing rock and contemporary styles, Larry tailors each lesson to the student’s goals.

At Palos Verdes Music House, students studying with Larry also have opportunities to perform in recitals and group settings, building confidence and real performance experience.
