Rock with Strings at PVMH - Introducing the PVMH ROCKTET!

Rocktet is where classical string training meets the energy, creativity, and collaborative spirit of rock music — we hope it will be one of the most exciting ensemble experiences at The PV Music House.

Designed for violin, viola, and cello students with a solid musical foundation, Rocktet challenges young musicians to think beyond the page while still honoring the discipline and musicianship that comes from conservatory-style training. Students work with professionally arranged rock repertoire adapted specifically for string ensemble, developing rhythm, listening skills, balance, and ensemble awareness in a setting that feels fresh, relevant, and inspiring.

What makes Rocktet truly unique is its experimental approach to sound. Students explore amplification and effects pedals as musical tools, learning how tone, texture, and technology can expand the expressive possibilities of their instruments. This is not about novelty — it’s about helping students understand how their classical skills translate into modern performance environments.

Rocktet is also deeply rooted in community and collaboration, core values of PV Music House. Rehearsals emphasize teamwork, responsibility, and shared ownership of the music. Students are encouraged to listen actively, support one another, and grow together — the same skills that make great musicians and confident collaborators.

This ensemble is open to all ages, with the expectation that students have at least one year of private lessons or a group class through your local school district. Participation is intentional and guided, ensuring that every student is placed in an environment where they can succeed, contribute, and be challenged appropriately.

Rocktet begins Wednesday, January 21 at 6:00 PM, and RSVP is required. Families interested in this creative, high-level ensemble experience are encouraged to learn more and reserve a spot.

As this is our kickoff rehearsal, we MUST have a minimum number of players to get this ensemble going. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call/text us at 310-377-7838 or email info@pvmusichouse.com.

At its heart, Rocktet reflects what The Music House does best:
making music together, making music relevant, and creating a home where young musicians can explore who they are — and who they can become — through music.
