Rocktet
Rock ’n’ Roll String Ensemble | All Ages | Intermediate–Advanced
Rocktet is a high-energy rock string ensemble for violin, viola, and cello students who want to take their playing beyond the traditional orchestra setting. Designed as an extra-curricular ensemble for those already in traditional orchestras or former string players that always needed a different kind of inspiration, Rocktet brings together intermediate to advanced players to perform rock music arranged for a rock ’n’ roll string orchestra.
Students will play powerful, rhythm-driven arrangements of classic and modern rock, experimenting with distortion pedals and amplified strings to create a bold, modern sound. In addition to string players, Rocktet will collaborate with guitarists and drummers, giving students the experience of performing in a true band-style setting so limited spots are available for these young students as well.
Inspired by the spirit of rock bands and chamber ensembles alike, Rocktet blends precision, teamwork, and creativity. Performances are energetic, loud (in the best way), and designed to engage both players and audiences. This ensemble is perfect for string students looking for something modern, exciting, and a little raucous—while still building serious musicianship.
