Welcome to the "Intermediate Violin" course (ages 9-14), designed to equip students with advanced techniques and knowledge essential for success in middle school and high school music programs. These skills will help prepare them for future opportunities, including entry into advanced school orchestras. These classes are led by violinist Mimi Jung, an internationally acclaimed musician with over 15 years of experience, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of young musicians. Throughout this course, students will:
*Enhance ensemble playing skills, focusing on coordination, listening, and balance within a group setting.
*Advance their left-hand technique, incorporating shifting to higher positions and introducing vibrato for greater tonal variety and expressiveness.
*Strengthen bowing proficiency, mastering advanced techniques such as spiccato, legato with control, and dynamic contrasts to enrich their playing.
*Develop precision in intonation, exploring scales and exercises across multiple positions to build a refined sense of pitch.
*Explore more complex repertoire, working through selected pieces from Suzuki Book II/Suzuki Book III and other equivalent materials to develop interpretative skills.
*Refine their understanding of music theory, with a focus on rhythm, phrasing, and articulation to support a well-rounded approach to violin performance.
*Learn about the lives and legacies of renowned composers and their contributions to music history.
Distinguished guest artists are regularly invited to enrich the curriculum. In this course, students will deepen their understanding of complex rhythms with Mr. Matt Yamada, refine their chamber music skills with Mr. George Rochelle, and develop their orchestral proficiency under the guidance of Mr. Valentín Aramburo Bravo.

Instructor Bio: | Violinist Mimi Jung brings boundless creativity and determination to all of her artistic pursuits, from performing in many of the world's most prestigious violin competitions to sharing her craft with her teaching studio. Recognition of her skill and her love for performing as a soloist has brought her to such renowned venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Athenaeum Main Concert Hall in Bucharest, Romania. From 2018-2021, she served as tenured associate concertmaster of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium). Currently, she resides in Los Angeles and pursues solo and chamber activities alongside teaching privately.
