PV Music House is a music school rooted in a simple but powerful belief: music is a vehicle for good — strengthening community, empowering personal growth, and bringing people together in ways nothing else can.
We offer music lessons for students of all ages and skill levels, but we're more than just a lesson studio. We're building a tribe — a home for music makers, teachers, and students, both young and young at heart.
We Make Music Together Musicians need community. Our lesson program is designed to connect students with inspiring teachers, fellow learners, and a wider music-making community right here in Palos Verdes. You don't just take lessons here — you belong to something.
We Make Music for Each Other Music is meant to be shared. That's why we build performance opportunities into the fabric of what we do. Our students don't just practice week after week with no outlet — they get on stage, share what they've learned, and experience the joy of playing for others in a fun, supportive setting.
We Make Music Relevant Our lessons go beyond reading notes on a page. We champion creativity — songwriting, composition, improvisation, and beat-making — because we believe every student has something original to express. Just like in photography, theater, or design, music students should be encouraged to create, not just replicate.
Our vision is simple: we want you to leave PV Music House loving music more deeply than when you arrived — and to carry that love with you for the rest of your life.
Get to know us
PV Music House has been the premier music lesson studio on the Palos Verdes Peninsula since the 1980s — continuing a long tradition of music education in our community under a new name and a renewed mission.
At PVMH, we believe music is not a product — it's a practice, a language, and a lifelong way of becoming more fully human.
We are not a lesson factory. We are not interested in a "fast-track" version of musicianship. Music doesn't grow that way. Real musicianship is built slowly, deliberately, and in community — through excellent teaching, consistent practice, meaningful performance, and the courage to be seen while you are still becoming.
Our Program Our lesson program is structured, but never rigid. We have a clear plan and teachers who are not only highly trained but actively working musicians and educators. Students receive conservatory-style instruction across band and orchestra instruments, voice, and guitar in all styles. But more importantly, they receive something that cannot be packaged: mentorship.
Performance Is Part of the Plan From the very beginning, students are encouraged to do what musicians actually do — play for others. Just like youth sports teams don't only run drills but regularly step onto the field, our students don't only "take lessons." They perform. Frequently. Intentionally. And in an environment that values growth over perfection.
We host monthly recitals and open mic opportunities because performance is not the final exam of music education — it is the training ground. It is where ideas become expression, where nerves become confidence, and where technique becomes communication.
Music Is a Team Sport Our ensembles are growing every day, because music is not meant to be learned in isolation. Students learn to listen, to respond, to lead, and to follow — skills that can't be taught through any plug-and-play curriculum. Our students understand that music isn't just about playing the right notes. It's about making something meaningful with other people, in real time.
What We're Really Building We are building more than musicians. We are building thoughtful, creative, emotionally intelligent individuals who use music as a form of expression, connection, and resilience. In a world that often feels noisy and fragmented, music becomes a grounding force — a way to focus, to feel, and to belong.
At PVMH, we are honest about what music education requires: time, repetition, patience, and community. But we are equally honest about what it gives back. Our students are not only learning to play instruments — they are learning confidence, discipline, collaboration, empathy, and joy.
We measure success not by perfection, but by progress. Not by how polished a performance looks, but by how willing a student is to step on stage and try again. Over time, that practice builds something powerful: musicians who are not just technically capable, but emotionally equipped to use their voice in the world.
This is music as it should be — alive, shared, imperfect, and real.
